Eeeew!

Last night at the playwriting workshop we had our plays read by actors. As an icebreaker, one of the workshop leaders suggested that we each offer an introduction with one interesting fact about ourselves. This was promptly met with groans and grumbles, so he quickly changed his suggestion from “interesting” to “disgusting.” The story I told went over well, so I’ll document it here.

Our backyard is particularly buggy, so I usually wear long pants when moving laundry to and from the clothesline. One day earlier this week I forgot to change out of my gym shorts before bringing in the laundry. As I pulled clothes off the line, I was swatting bugs off my legs every couple of seconds. After a few minutes, I kept feeling something on the back of my right knee, over and over, no matter how many times I swatted. I finally looked down and discovered that apparently I have missed the same spot every time I shaved my legs for the past six months. There on the back of my knee was one extremely long leg hair, so long in fact, that it was wafting in the afternoon breeze.
