When I started blogging, it wasn’t for anyone’s enjoyment but my own. My original blog wasn’t even public – it just seemed like a good, organized way to keep a journal. When I did make it public, the only posts I deleted were a bunch about dreams because a) a couple of years ago I went through a phase of dreaming about one of my ex-boyfriends every couple of nights, and b) who cares? Other people’s dreams just aren’t that interesting.
I keep this blog in the spirit of audiencelessness in which it was begun, but at the same time I am aware that other people do read it. For that reason, unless a dream is really way too good not to document, it goes off into the ether. So, random dreams about work, food, and hair: no documentation. Last night’s dream that I was repairing the garden of a transgendered, legless couple, after which I got caught in the middle of a party at which there was an argument over crack that I barely escaped by running into the housewares department of Boscovs: documented.
