It’s official. Not only did the heat go on for the first time this season, but even more telling, the space heater is in use, if only to keep Max warm as he recovers from his ass bugs. (Will this teach him not to eat poop? Doubtful. Did the emergency vet trip in State College teach him not to eat candy? And did the two nights at the emergency vet over the summer teach him not to eat earplugs? No, they did not.)
An hour into the vet visit. Ain't nobody happy.
And I’m wearing socks. It’s Fall, and it’s not just early Fall, it’s FALL, with the rain and cold and wet leaves. And tea! And beautiful trees! And flattering blazers!
I had dinner with my favorite astrophysicist this evening, and because he is my friend and I think he is great, I am going to shamelessly plug his book to my handful of readers. That’s right, this book that he wrote and that will be available in March:

It’s going to be great, because Dave is extremely intelligent with a terrific sense of humor, evidenced not only by doctorate from Princeton and various impressive accomplishments, but because he is a regular reader of my blog and likes my writing. Hi Dave! Check out the blog for the book – it’s neat.
Anyway, I’ve known Dave for twenty years, although this was the first time we’ve connected in person since 2000 or so. I’ve always enjoyed my time with him because conversation inevitably turns from what happens in life to how things happen in life. Usually, our talks end with me inspired, regardless of which one of us does most of the talking. That aside, it is a great joy to connect with old friends who are happy and motivated and unstuck, especially when I am happy and motivated and (mostly) unstuck enough to be happy for them.

Thank, L-dog! It was fantastic seeing you, too. Also, I anxiously await news of the project you referred to on facebook.
