A Really Good Day

Yesterday was a great day, and especially notable because I managed to hit my entire tagline.

Frolic and Food

cookieBefore heading to a chili cookoff at the Waffle Lady’s house, I baked a batch of my most-requested chocolate chip cookies while blasting MTX. (Scott made the chili Friday night.) I’ve been on a big MTX kick for the past week, which has brought with it an urge to wear odd jewelry and color my hair. I think I’m regressing. Regardless, I have decided punk baking counts as frolicking, and besides, this is a family blog, so the day’s other forms of frolic shall simply be inferred before the fade to black.

Footwear

fmorpA stop in a shoe store on the way back from a morning haircut proved most fortuitous. Every now and then there is a pair of shoes that comes along so fabulous that they require an entire outfit to be invented around them. In this case, it’s not just an outfit I need to invent. I need to invent a new word to describe them. Deliculent? Fabulawesome? Or maybe something less portmanteau and more onomatopoeia… Hwag? Slurgy? Fmorp? I’m out. Fade to black.

Fiction

I was exhausted when we got home last night, but I did get in a little writing. It was more time spent getting some thoughts down than anything, but it was what I needed to do so I can get into the last part of the uber-triptych. I haven’t read back over any of it yet, but I’m curious about what is there, because for much of it I was writing a sentence at a time, then falling asleep, waking up, writing another sentence, and on and on.

Other Fixations

hairHaircut! With headrub! I sometimes wonder if those headrubs are to get me good and relaxed so I won’t freak out when I get to the register and realize how damn much money I’m paying after factoring in the tip. Regardless, it’s super short right now, which feels awesome, and if I decide I don’t like it this short, in a few weeks it will be right back where it was – another thing to love about keeping my hair good and short. A bad cut is gone in four weeks instead of six months.

Head to toe, a good day.
