You know what’s great? Men. Men are great because they do things like show up at other men’s houses with tools and trucks and take down old sheds, even when the other resident of that man’s house is a woman who is fully capable and into power tools.
The old shed came down today -another item that has been on the to do list for the past two and half years- the process of which made today quite possibly the most manly day this house has ever seen.
Why, there was sawing…

And loading stuff into a truck…

And more sawing…

And even some standin’ around lookin’ at stuff while wearing work gloves…

With the help of Scott’s brother and brother-in-law, we have shed our shed, and as capable as I am, I am relieved that the only things I had to do in the process were make a quick trip to Home Depot, and pick up lunch and dinner. Thank you, men. Also, our neighbor -a man!- very kindly loaned us some tools to help with the shed demolition, so I made a batch of cookies to thank him. While I was making the cookies, I had a moment in which I was so completely distracted by how much I love men (really – this was when the gratitude hit) that I temporarily forgot how to use the mixer I have been using for eight years, and sent flour shooting all over the kitchen. Seriously, men, you’re that awesome. Total flourgasm.
The picture below is about ninety degrees of the three hundred sixty degree flour shower (and this was after I had already started cleaning)…

I also had flour in my hair, and all over the front of me, top to bottom, (wearing black while baking – will I never learn this lesson?).

I think at some point, most of my shoes have been coated in flour thusly. Mmmm… breaded shoe. But of course, it is always worth it because COOKIES.

Anyway, here’s the shed demo, start to finish.

The windows came out last weekend. They had been painted and boarded over; we didn't know that there was still glass until one of them came down and broke.

The shed was constructed of wood and scrap metal from Sparrow's Point.

Richie started the work this morning by taking off the roof.

The roof is off...

Yep, completely off.

Starting to take down the plywood and sheet metal exterior.

I am not certain what was happening here. Something manly, I guess.

Detritus.

Just the floor left, now. Miss Carol next door suggested we use it for a tap dancing performance.

Dave taking up the last of the floor. Max will never get stuck under there again.
Thanks, guys!
