I love slugs. During the late spring and summer, the front porch is a slugfest, and any trips back home after dark end with very careful steps up the sidewalk, looking out for slimy friends. I have been known to sit outside in the evening and watch a slug cross the sidewalk, which doesn’t sound like much, but have you ever watched a slug travel three feet? It can be the entertainment for the entire evening.
I am always happy to see a slug, but I was a bit surprised to see one inside the house tonight, on the window screen.
The good news is that I found a purpose for the unused Everyman tickets.
I escorted my friend outside, where there was a slug party happening on the porch, and plenty of cool grass for hanging out and slugging around in. Even slugs rely upon the kindness of strangers (or strange people) from time to time.
[Edited to add: Does anyone know how to get slug slime off a window screen?]
