Misbehaving Tuesday: Suddenly Tuesday Edition

I had all of these plans yesterday to go out and misbehave. This is the last week before school starts up again, and already the pace of life has started to pick up. I dressed and got ready to go, when all of the sudden, I was watching a French movie and drinking tea. What the…? There went my afternoon.

A trip out to pick up our CSA share later in the day was supposed to lead into a yoga class, but then suddenly I was in a store where I found a misbehaving dress on clearance. How misbehaving is it? Well, it combines plaid and stripes and THE STRIPES RUN HORIZONTALLY ACROSS THE WIDEST PART OF ME. Suck it, What Not To Wear. By some miracle of stripery, it actually looks good. Adorable, if I do say so. Either that I need to find out what kind of crack-smoking ego mirrors are in that store and have them installed all over my house.

So, plaid and stripes. It is precisely the kind of thing I would have worn when I was younger. I don’t know when I stopped the plaid and stripes and polka dots and paisley all at the same time madness, but suddenly I was an adult with a respectable job that involved offices and reporting relationships and Power Point presentations, and I started wearing things like sweater sets and pearls and tailored skirts and pantyhose all at the same time, and all THAT got me was more respectable jobs with color printers and executive summaries and who needs that shit, really?

With that, I have a nice new misbehaving thing to look forward to for Fall -plaid and stripes dress. Next, hats.

I love your blog; reading it brings me closer to being back in baltimore and reminds me to keep getting back on the mat. Now I am teaching so many other things that teaching yoga feels like work, and you remind me otherwise. But really, I am writing because I want to see a picture of this dress. Picture please.

Hi Elizabeth! Thank you so much for your kind words. I am happy to be your reminder and a connection back to Baltimore. We all remind each other sometimes – it’s great to have a community of yogis around, whether virtual or immediate.

I don’t have a picture of the dress handy, but I have a feeling that on that first cool day when I wear it (a cool Tuesday, maybe?), I’ll be posting something. :)
